COLUMBIA, Md., June 01, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) W. R. Grace & Co. (NYSE: GRA) today announced the completion of its acquisition of the Fine Chemistry Services business (“FCS”) of Albemarle Corporation (NYSE: ALB) for approximately $570 million, including $300 million paid in cash and $270 million funded through the issuance to Albemarle of non-participating preferred equity of a newly created Grace subsidiary. “This investment represents an important step forward in Grace’s growth strategy. SPECIALITY chemicals company Grace has completed the expansion of its manufacturing plant in Kuantan, Malaysia.
Grace has had a facility in Kuantan since 1996 and this is the fourth expansion. Grace manufactures different types of micronised amorphous silica which can be used in a range of industries. Its
TRISYL silica can purify biodiesel, biofuel, and edible oil;
DARACLAR is used for stabilisation and selective adsorption of haze-forming proteins in beverages;
SYLOID is used for matting furniture, coils, textile, and leather; and
SYLOBLOC is an anti-blocking solution for plastic films.
