GEIC board approves first recommendation for business expansion grant

The Graham Economic Improvement Corporation had its upcoming fiscal year budget approved by the Graham City Council last week. The budget is estimated at $867,051 with incentives to assist new and existing businesses to the city. The GEIC was incorporated Jan. 19, 1994 to collect1/4 of a cent of sales tax for economic development and 1/4 a cent of sales tax for ad valorem tax reduction. City Manager Eric Garretty said the budget was approved to be submitted for council consideration by the GEIC Board of Directors during its meeting Thursday, Aug. 3.
