New Hampshire and Maine Fishing Report – March 4, 2021 March 4, 2021 If the forecast holds true you may be doing something you haven’t done in a while, namely working up a good sweat! Next weeks 50 degree predictions are one thing but the real reason is that March ice fishing is getting hot! New Hampshire Fishing Report Imagine your first drop of a jig through the ice on massive Lake Winnipesaukee and coming tight to a 2 1/2 pound white perch! Odds are pretty good that subsequent drops would be largely anticlimactic but for Clamcorp Pro-team member “Drew”, while fishing with Tim Moore of TimMooreOutdoors, the fun was just getting started! White perch fishing is at its peak on Lake Winnipesaukee and not very far behind is some impressive fishing for lake trout and cusk! Tim and the Clam crew are cranking them in from only 30’ of water in shallow basins. Smelt stuck below Clam Tip-ups are working as is jigging Clam pink blade spoons.

New Hampshire and Maine Fishing Report – February 25, 2021 February 25, 2021 Ice/snow melt has been a catalyst for an uptick in catch rates among many water bodies. That same bright sunshine is also making for a rare combination – ice fishing without having to be bundled to the teeth! New Hampshire Fishing Report Joe from Granite State Rod and Reel Repair said that he’s doling out shiners at a record rate as hordes of anglers take to Beaver Lake, Canobie Lake, Cobbetts Pond. These water bodies are a two-story hat trick as they all hold both warm water species and trout! Anglers had been out on the coves of the Nashua River catching bass but Joe’s not sure about conditions now that there’s a sustained thaw. Silver Lake has been productive for pickerel, perch, bass and he’s been hearing good things regarding white perch from the Merrimack.

The latest is Meredith Bay, where shanties and even a tractor (tasked with clearing snow for hockey) have been observed on the ice! Most everything that swims in this big lake can be caught in Meredith Bay. Anglers are catching lakers and white perch in Center Harbor and there are reports of 5 inches of ice in the Long Island stretch on the right-hand side of the bridge. Regarding other water bodies, most of Newfound Lake has been good as has at least the north end of Winnisquam where anglers

New Hampshire and Maine Fishing Report – January 14, 2021

New Hampshire and Maine Fishing Report – January 14, 2021 Warm water species such as bass are the primary target until the larger lakes cap over. In lockstep with waxing of winter, more ice fishing options are becoming available. Big water for the most part is still a work in progress but with the plethora of smaller places all capped over, many figure that the larger water bodies can wait. New Hampshire Fishing Report “Slow and steady” is the best way to describe the way the ice is progressing on Winnipesaukee according to Jim from AJs Bait in Meredith. In addition to Pier 19 and Pier 20, Gilford Beach is holding ice anglers and willing rainbows. Some have been out on 4” of ice on Winter Harbor but a better bet is to wait until after this weekend when the weather forecast is more friendly towards making ice there. Newfound Lake is purported to have open water while ice reports are good at Little Squam and Winnisquam.
