NEW YORK The man accused of sheltering Andre Sterling, who allegedly shot a state trooper last month during a traffic stop in Hyannis, is being charged with making false statements to federal agents and harboring or concealing a person from arrest.
New York law enforcement officials announced Monday that they were filing charges against Grant Grandison, 35, who allegedly allowed Sterling to stay at his Bronx apartment and lied to U.S. Marshals who were looking for Sterling, telling them no one was at the residence.
Marshals went to Grandison’s apartment on Friday to arrest Sterling and encountered Grandison at the door, according to a statement from the Department of Justice. After being asked, Grandison said that no one else was there. Marshals went into the apartment, at which point Sterling started firing at the marshals, officials said.
