Homicide trial over crash to continue | News, Sports, Jobs

ethompson@lewistownsentinel.com LEWISTOWN — A jury is tasked this week with determining whether Stuart Wayne Bryant had malicious intent related to the crash in January 2019 that killed Mifflin County Junior High School teacher and coach, Harry Aultz. The jury on Tuesday heard testimony from two expert witnesses and 14 others who said they saw a vehicle that fit the description of the one Bryant was driving the night of the accident to be driving erratically in various locations in Mifflin County. The jury trial will determine whether Bryant, 61, of Coatesville, is guilty of charges of murder of the third degree, a first-degree felony; homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, a second-degree felony; homicide by vehicle, a third-degree felony; involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree misdemeanor; and more than a dozen related criminal and traffic offenses.

Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown ¯Theft of Motor Vehicle – At 3:45 AM on Dec. 31st, police said a 15 year old male from Granville stole a 1986 blue Chevrolet truck from Granville Fire Company and drove it to Pheasant Valley Rd in Decatur Township where he crashed. ¯Harass Communication – At 9:28 PM on Jan. 5th, police responded to a harassment by communication on William Penn Highway in Fermanagh Township. No charges have been filed by request of the victim. ¯Drug Possession – On Jan. 4th at 5:13 PM, police arrested a 32 year old female and a 59 year old male on US22 W in Walker Township. Both suspects were from Altoona, Pennsylvania. The police were granted a search warrant after gaining suspicion of drug possession. Police discovered known and unknown controlled substances in the motor vehicle. Police are still investigating.
