HOMES could be built on the former Debenhams store in the Royals Shopping Centre as a new owner is set to take over the site. The centre is being sold by Savills and the firm’s bosses say the store, which closed on Friday, would make a perfect spot for a restaurant and new flats with sea views. Business bosses have given a mixed reaction to the potential of homes replacing the former department store. Toby Ogilvie Smals, 43, director in the investment team at Savills, said: “The sale is quite close and the buyer is a shopping centre operator who is looking to invest and add value to the centre.

The boss of Norwich s Castle Quarter has told people to stay away unless they need to shop for essentials.
Centre manager Robert Bradley said although it was counter-intuitive he did not want to encourage people into the centre now a new lockdown had been announced.

Empty crisp packets are being turned into survival bags for homeless people.
Eastgate Shopping Centre sales assistant Gillian McCann has started a group for the Inverness area as part of a growing network across the UK.
And pupils at Kirkhill Primary School have been collecting empty crisp bags so they can be turned into insulating liners for sleeping bags.
Ms McCann, who works at the Grape Tree health food shop, has enlisted the help of her cousin, Lesley Fraser, a building manager at Great Glen House in Westercraigs.
