Police arrested and charged a man in connection with the brutal assault of a 90-year-old Manhattan candy store owner.

An elderly Manhattan store owner was knocked unconscious in a brutal attack right outside of his shop.

A New York City candy store owner was violently assaulted while stepping out for "fresh air" early Tuesday.

Ray Alvarez, proprietor of Ray’s Candy store since 1974, was out for some fresh air outside his shop on Avenue A near E. 7th St. about 3 a.m. Tuesday when the attacker and another man approached, cops said.

The attack happened outside the 24-hour store early Tuesday morning, and left its egg-cream slinging store merchant, known to many as Ray Alvarez (left), with a black eye.

Police in the East Village are looking for the brute who bashed the 90-year-old owner of the iconic Ray's Candy Store with a large rock earlier this week.

The 90-year-old victim is back at work, and the community is pledging to help find the suspect.
