The Nelson Mandela Bay municipality has removed illegal water connections on the Churchill Dam-Bay bulk pipeline installed at Papiesfontein by the group that has allegedly illegally occupied the land.
If nothing is done to stop the illegal occupation of a section of the Greater Kabeljous biodiversity hotspot, there is a real risk of this precious piece of land and the numerous environmental and heritage resources it has to offer being lost forever.
The land invasion drama at Papiesfontein near Jeffreys Bay unfolded further at the weekend with the newly formed Greater Kabeljous Partnership cutting off a gate lock installed by Kouga ANC councillor Wayne Petersen, accused of occupying the land illegally, and leading a site visit walk through the area.
