Greenwell Foundation Unicorns and Goats Spread Joy at May Open Barn | Southern Maryland News Net

May 5, 2021 It was a beautiful spring day, and Greenwell Foundation welcomed over 100 young and young-at-heart members of our community to our May Open Barn celebrating Unicorns last week. Costumes abounded, many photos were taken, and everyone enjoyed themselves safely, maintaining state and local guidelines as we emerge from the pandemic. Executive Director Jolanda Campbell was particularly pleased with the behavior of our 2 newest members of the Greenwell Foundation family; goats Billy and Taco. “They had a great time meeting everyone, and all our visitors loved them!” Greenwell Foundation’s Open Barns are held the first Saturday of every month from 9:00 a.m., to 12:00 p.m., and are free-of-charge. In June, we will be hosting pony rides (for a $5 fee) and our dear friends from the Lexington Park Library will be holding outdoor story time at 10:00 a.m.

Deceased = Randall, Mary Mechelle :: So. Md. Obituary

Mary Mechelle Randall of Lexington Park, Maryland, beloved daughter, sister, aunt and niece, passed away on March 3, 2021 at the age of 38. She bore a heavy load all her life but you could seldom tell. Mary was such an inspiration to all she encountered. A St. Mary s County treasure, everyone Mary met was her new best friend and it seemed as though she knew everyone. She loved everybody and they returned the sentiment. Mary was always one to make her presence felt. She began volunteering at the Southern Maryland Center for Independent Living (SMCIL) in 2010 and was in the SMCIL Volunteer Spotlight in November 2020. During her tenure, she was a fierce advocate for the rights of those with differing disabilities. You can see her accomplishments throughout St. Mary s County, from the curbside cutouts for wheelchairs at fast food restaurants to the handicapped stalls in the parks. She truly left her mark by creating a much better place for all to live.

U.S. Bank Donates in Honor of George Greenwell

He was a generous supporter of the RiverPark Center and served on its Foundations Board of Trustees for several years. He served on the Board of Trustees of Kentucky Wesleyan College (KWC) from 1984 to 1993. He chaired the development committee for those nine years. He was Vice-Chairman of the board from 1989 to 1992 and was elected trustee emeritus in 1997. He helped found the annual community event, Concert on the Lawn which is performed each summer by the Owensboro Sympathy Orchestra on the front lawn of KWC. This event is free to the public. His $1 million gift to KWC for their library was donated to honor his son Howard Greenwell who passed away in 1991 at age 35. This gift was graciously acknowledged by the school by naming the library building in honor of his son.
