In this op-ed, Wheelock College of Education & Human Development faculty Marcus Winters and Andrew Bacher-Hicks write that the recently released scores on the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) are consistent with the widespread suspicion that the pandemic took a major toll on US public school students, as eighth grade math scores fell by eight points, fourth grade math points by four points, compared to 2019.
