A Collin County man will spend the rest of his life in prison for murdering his wife last year. Jurors didn't buy his explanations on how it happened.

The project will repair and paint the steel support system and replace the 32-year-old fabric coverings. 

At the time of the incident, he told police that he accidentally pulled the trigger while he was putting his gun away.

Evan Kates, of Carrollton, was convicted and sentenced for three charges of aggravated assault against a public servant, DA Greg Willis said.

Kates had been on parole for three months from an 18-year prison sentence at the time of the chase.
