Elon Musk today (July 12) unveiled xAI, an artificial intelligence company set up to rival Big Tech, and its 12 founding members.

Elon Musk, who also runs Austin-based Tesla and SpaceX announced the companys launch of xAI on Twitter Wednesday afternoon.

Elon Musk has announced setting up of a new company called xAI, which will "understand reality", according to his tweet. As per the company's website, it's purpose is to "understand the true nature of the universe".

Elon Musk has launched his AI startup, xAI, aiming to create an alternative to ChatGPT. Musk plans to develop a ‘maximally curious’ AI that aligns with human values. xAIs team includes engineers from major tech firms, and Musk will personally lead the company.

The startup will be led by the already CEO of electric car maker Tesla, CEO of rocket launch company SpaceX and owner of Twitter, who has said on several occasions that the development of AI should be paused and that the sector needed regulation
