Around 1,000 workers, school pupils and university students demonstrated in Berlin-Neukölln Monday against Israel’s genocide in the Gaza Strip. Various pro-Palestinian groups, the Berlin Student Coalition, as well as SGP and its youth organisation IYSSE had called for the strike and rally.

Pouring rain could not stop the loud and passionate protest of around 200 students and workers at Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) Tuesday afternoon against the genocide in Gaza.

On Monday, the online edition of the <em>Berliner Zeitung</em>, one of the most popular media outlets in the German capital, prominently reported on the student protest and the "sharp criticism of the president and professors of Berlin's Humboldt University" made by the IYSSE due to the "exhibition of grisly photos at HU.”

Together, the speakers set out a political programme capable of uniting the international working class and mobilising its immense social power in a struggle against the world’s major corporations and governments.

The following speech was delivered by Gregor Link on February 4 on Potsdamer Platz in Berlin at the election rally of the Sozialistiche Gleichheitspartei (SGP, the German section of the Fourth International) in opposition to the war in Ukraine. Link is a spokesman for its youth organization, the IYSSE.

The strong response to the rally shows that the SGP is giving a voice and a socialist perspective to widespread opposition to war and austerity. The SGP is the only party to oppose the ruling class’ war in Ukraine and the danger of a third world war fought with nuclear weapons.

The Sozialistische Gleichheitspartei rally in the Spandau district gave a strong political lead in opposition to the German government sending tanks to Ukraine.

On Monday, the Sozialistische Gleichheitspartei (Socialist Equality Party, SGP) broadcast its launch event for the 2023 Berlin state elections. In it, leading members of the party explained the SGP’s principles, socialist program and historical foundations.
