The Minister of Transport and Communications H E Jassim bin Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti said the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) is determined to place Qatar as a regional ICT hub and a destination for international investors by investing in cloud computing.
The Minister disclosed this during a virtual event hosted by the MoTC and Microsoft to celebrate the first anniversary of cloud migration via Microsoft Azure.
The Minister also announced the completion of construction and infrastructure for three data centers for Microsoft Azure that would begin operations in the first quarter of 2022, making Qatar the 55th Azure region in the world.

Qatar’s 800 MW Al Kharsaah Solar Power Plant will start its operations this year, as the country’s first utility scale solar power plant prepares to supply solar power for the upcoming Qatar 2022 World Cup, an official has said.
Speaking at a webinar on ‘Carbon Neutral World Cup 2022’ hosted by the US Chamber of Commerce’s US-Qatar Business Program in partnership with the Qatari Embassy recently, Bodour Al Meer, Sustainability Director at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), said Qatar has developed a unique hosting concept to deliver a World Cup like no other.
