Amprion and E.ON are launching the 'world's first decentralised' non-wires alternative energy storage project in Germany, they claimed.

Storage specialist Fluence has launched Ultrastack, a battery energy storage system (BESS) for storage-as-transmission assets (SATA). It is designed to help network owners and operators to manage renewables curtailment, increase the use of power lines, and limit congestion.

High-voltage grid and market operator ISO New England has requested separate classification of energy storage as a transmission asset.

Energy storage could be a powerful asset in facilitating transmission network upgrades required for New York’s low carbon energy transition.
