Police from Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands on Wednesday appealed to the public for help in solving the cold cases of 22 women and girls who were murdered in recent decades.
Most of the victims died violently, according to police, while others were starved or abused. Their remains were discovered across three European countries - Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands - between October 1976 and August 2019. The bodies may have been dumped to confuse the police.
