Two journalists are joining The Republic next month to cover rural life and communities in northern and southern Arizona. Their work will be funded by the nonprofit Report for America in association with The Arizona Republic.

The reporters — Xcaret Nuñez and Graycen Wheeler — come to KOSU as corps members for Report for America, a national service program that places journalists in local newsrooms to report on under-covered issues and communities.

Shannon Sollitt will cover the people who plant, maintain and harvest crops, as well as the issues and government decisions that impact their lives.

Caroline Beck, previously with the Alabama Daily News, will join IndyStars newsroom as a Report for America corps member June 1 to cover education.
