(Bloomberg) Groupe Filatex, a family enterprise that produces about a third of Madagascar’s energy, is diversifying from its traditional market by investing in new private hospitals in Mauritius.
Filatex acquired a stake in PolyClinique de l’Ouest Ltee, which plans to establish two new hospitals specializing in oncology in Mauritius. The total cost of the project is about $60 million.

“Health care represents an asset class of the future within Africa together with food security,” Filatex Chief Executive Officer Hasnaine Yavarhoussen said in a phone interview from Antananarivo, the capital, on April 22.
