Alan S. Jacobson

Alan “Big Al” Scott Jacobson, age 70, of La Crosse, WI, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Mulder Health Care Center in West Salem, WI, after a four year battle with Lewy body dementia. Al was born on Dec. 16, 1952, in Superior, WI, the son of Harry and Bonnie (Hess) Jacobson. He was a 1971 graduate of Superior High School and married Catherine Ann Bukovich on May 19, 1979, at his parents’ home at Sand Bar Lake in Barnes, WI. The couple lived in Barnes for 43 years where they raised their family and formed many close friendships. In 2022, they moved to La Crosse to be closer to family and healthcare resources. For 42 years, Al worked as a journeyman boilermaker at Fraser Shipyards in Superior. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of the Boilermakers. Most summers, Al worked with Vacationland Surveying as a technician. In 2019, he was recognized for his 31 years as a seasonal wildfire technician with the Barnes DNR. Af
