The high court is hearing a petition filed by one Randeep Tanwar, who has sought directions to stop a mob of people from gathering at National Highway-44 (NH-44), at the behest of BKU (Bhartiya Kisan Union), Chaduni Group.
An ultimatum was given to the Haryana government to meet the demands but after getting no satisfactory response, the farmers Tuesday afternoon started pitching tents in the middle of the highway.
The farmers had put forward two major demands including ensuring the purchase of sunflower crop at minimum support price (MSP) and the release of arrested BKU leaders, including Gurnam Singh Chaduni.
