CLEMSON, S.C. Former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence will have surgery on his left, non-throwing shoulder before the NFL draft.
Lawrence’s representative, Kyle Strongin of MGC Sports, said Lawrence scheduled a workout for NFL personnel on Friday instead of waiting for Clemson’s pro day on March 11 because of the upcoming surgery. Strongin did not specify when the procedure would happen.
Lawrence, the 6-foot-6 passer who finished second in Heisman Trophy balloting to Alabama receiver Devonta Smith, is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) Construction of a new basketball arena at the University of Vermont is facing another delay.
UVM’s Board of Trustees on Friday approved resuming the $95 million overhaul of the school’s athletic facilities, but will wait to secure $30 million in bonds to start building the new basketball arena called the Tarrant Center, the Burlington Free Press reported.
Last spring, the school cited financial uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic when it deferred on the bond issuance as Gov. Phil Scott’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” executive order stopped construction for nearly two months.

Now he guides his student-athletes at UVM through a fall unlike any other in the program’s storied history.
Woodcroft received his introduction to Vermont hockey and Gutterson Fieldhouse in the late eighties, coming to Burlington to watch his brother Craig, who played for Colgate, face the Catamounts. “Seeing my older brother battle here is something I will never forget,” says Woodcroft. During his time as a professional scout with the National Hockey League’s Calgary Flames, Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota Wild, and Washington Capitals, he would return to Gutterson to watch college free agents and teams’ respective draft picks.
