GUWAHATI: The Board of Secondary Education, Assam (Seba) is going ahead with its Class 10 state board exams in May on the lines of CBSE and CISCE though the threat of Covid still hangs heavy.
A section of guardians has demanded the return to the online mode of studies on social media. But senior officials at Seba said there would be no exam postponement.
Sitting arrangements would be Covid appropriate in exam halls with the maintenance of distance between students.
Controller of examinations at Seba, Nayan Jyoti Sarmah, said the education board would incur an expenditure of more than Rs 1 crore for masks and sanitization of exam centres. Every student would get a mask.

GUWAHATI: Assam has put hospital authorities on alert for the maximum segregation of Covid-19 positive cases around the time of Rongali Bihu.
This spring festival is the biggest festival of Assam where large groups gather to sing and dance to the beats of Bihu. In view of such gatherings adding to the positive caseload, the government has issued an SOP limiting Bihu celebrations at night. The health department has maintained that unless the positive cases are segregated, even small celebrations can become spreaders. Last year, the first wave had put a brake on the celebrations and this year, people were hoping for a festival without curbs.
