SEOUL (May 3): Posco Holdings Inc said on Wednesday (May 3) it is spending US$441 million (RM1.96 billion) to build a nickel refining facility in Indonesia as it pushes to beef up its supply chains of the key secondary battery material. The factory will be located in the Weda Bay industrial park on the northeastern island of Halmahera and aim to produce nickel matte, an intermediate product for use in making battery-grade nickel, the South Korean steel giant said in a release.

A total of 55 workers died in accidents at construction sites in Korea during the first three months of this year, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said Monday. Seven of those fatalities occurred at construction sites overseen by the top 100 builders, down from 14 a year earlier.
