Woman killed in multi-vehicle crash on Route 199 near Williamsburg

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. James City County police investigated a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday morning that killed a woman.
Authorities say the crash took place in the westbound lanes of Route 199 about a half-mile east of the Longhill Road exit around 8:30 a.m.
Three vehicles were involved including a tow truck, a Jeep and a Honda.
After some investigation, police learned that the tow truck had stopped to tow a car that got stuck in the median early that morning.
Police said a tow truck stopped to tow a vehicle that was stuck in the median earlier Tuesday morning. The tow truck was partially in the left lane, and a 2003 Jeep Wrangler traveling in the left lane hit the tow truck from behind.

Authorities are investigating a multi-vehicle crash on Tuesday off Humesline Parkway which left a York County woman dead.
On Tuesday at approximately 8:33 a.m. James City County police officers, the fire department and EMS responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Route 199 Humesline Parkway about a half-east from the Longhill Road exit, according to a JCC PD news release.
Police said a tow truck that had stopped to tow a vehicle stuck in the median had parked partially in the left lane.
“A 2003 Jeep Wrangler traveling in the left lane struck the tow truck from behind,” according to police. “The impact caused the Jeep to go into the right lane where it was struck by a 2018 Honda CRV.”
