Several members of GKSS were detained
RAJKOT: Members of the Gujarat Kisan Sangharsh Samiti (GKSS), comprising of Congress affiliated farmers’ organisation, has alleged that farmers from different districts were being prevented from entering Rajkot for a rally on Friday. The GKSS was denied permission for a rally by the police on Thursday.
Several members of GKSS were detained, twice on Thursday, for holding dharna demanding permission to hold a rally at Racecourse.
Pal Ambaliya, chairman of Gujarat Kisan Congress said, “The farmer leaders from various districts have been put under illegal house arrest to prevent them from reaching Rajkot. They have also been threatened.”

Rajkot: Three male lions camping near the city for a month are to be released in their original territory, after being rescued by forest department on January 3.
Dushyant Vasavada, chief conservator of forests of Junagadh wildlife circle told the Indian Express, “We are monitoring their health and will soon release them back into the wild. One of them is satellite-tagged and we know where these lions are from, to prevent any territorial conflict with other lions, we shall release them in their original territory.”
Lions preyed over 40 animals during their stay in Rajkot
RAJKOT: Three male sub-adult lions that have been camping near Rajkot city were caged on Wednesday and taken back to Gir forest following protest by locals living in the vicinity. The lions have been stationed near the Aji Dam area and campaigned for over 40 days before they were captured by a team of foresters from Sasan.
The lions had made a revenue area near Aji dam and Bhayasar vidi (grassland) about 20 km from the city. The pride had come from Babra in Amreli district.
The lions were mostly seen in Bhayasar vidi, besides being occasionally sighted at Halenda, Tramba, Kalipat, Kotda Sangani and other nearby areas.
