April 12, 1776 - the first official action by one of the colonies in full support of declaring independence. The Halifax Resolves were also the first example of a colony-wide assembly admitting that reconciliation with the British was no longer an option.

This week, Scott and Aaron discuss the Halifax Resolves, which made North Carolina the first colony to call for independence in 1776.

HALIFAX — As the 250th anniversary of the Halifax Resolves draws closer in 2026, Halifax County is beginning its kickoff celebration on Friday.

North Carolina will be launching its celebration of Americas 250th birthday during a special event in Halifax this month.
