Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement ahead of heavy rainfall for parts of Nova Scotia, as the province readies itself for an active hurricane season.

As rainy conditions persist, several outdoor-oriented businesses in the Halifax area are experiencing lower turnout and sales than in previous years.

Last month marked the third-rainiest June on record in the Halifax area, with Environment Canada recording about 214 millimetres of rainfall.
