whether it s by the super rich or by the various policies. bill clinton gets that. so does joe biden. so do others. hillary clinton gets it and that is a wrap on what s happened in the past 20 years the middle in america has hallowed out. one thing to get it and another to do something about it. you occasionally tell the truth out loud and you get called a gaffe. but in this case, i think the big question is why is bill clinton attacking the sitting democratic president. it was a veiled attack. if you call the signature accomplishment of somebody the craziest thing in the world, this isn t veiled. if you talk about an awful legacy of the past eight years, that s not veiled. none of this is. it s a rigged system because you have a president who is not a change maker. that s not veiled. and i m surprised again nobody is writing about this. if one republican president were
hallowed out. it s a thriving city with a lot of rich people. why the gun violence? well, i think a lot of it is because we have a city gang culture. more guns on the streets in law-abiding citizens hands. rahm immanuel and super mccarthy are doing wonders in this city. things that haven t been done in 60 years. if you understand anything about chicago, mr. carlson, it s that this is a city that black communities were given gangs were given control of black communities to keep them in line and keep chaos in those communities and now barack obama is bringing felons back to those same communities to create more chaos. it s so remarkable to me that the city continues to pursue the same policies it s pursued for 50 years. crime rate gets higher. take guns out of the hands fing everybody. doesn t seem to make any dent at all on gun violence.
done more economic development in my city than i ve seen the governor do it. where are the jobs? where s the plant? during the campaign, i talked about the exact thing you are talking about. providing incentive, giving companies a reason to relocate in detroit. make it in detroit for things. we know how to make things. we made the things that make america great. instead, we allow detroit to be the hole of the doughnut instead of the hub of the wheel. most of our cities in michigan are hallowed out. dying on the vine. it is few exceptions. none. this needs federal help and congressional action and we need to pick and choose sides on this. i know where the republicans will be. they will say, no, we are for privatization and this is where we have to go. virg, we will continue on this. i appreciate you being with us. next up, as republicans vote for 39th time to repeal obama
new jobs this past quarter? tucker: it is so noticeable. if you go outside washington, new york, washington, dallas, big hubs, go to the middle of the country rural areas, it s hallowed out. the number of boarded up stores or closed car dealerships, restaurants with windows broken. i mean, parts of this country are really hurting. and you just dent get a sense of it at all. i don t watching television. alisyn: why were the numbers so much lower than expected and lower than the previous month? well, the administration has a theory, the chairman of the president s chief of economic council alan krueger says you know what? you have to realize these are the first numbers that have come out since sequester. let s listen. i step back whenever the jobs figures come out and look at it in the larger context over the last three months we have added half a million jobs. over the last 37 months the private sector has added jobs each month. we want to speed job creation, given how many
jobs argument because they couldn t i just saw a piece that is coming out and says the sequester has now completed the victory in america because when it was the stimulus, many conservatives said federal spending doesn t do anything for jobs but when it s defense, all of a sudden, this is the new deal and it s the wpa. so now everybody agreed. the second point is when you talk about hallowed out, briefly, leon panetta, a good guy and i admired by him hymn but overdoes the job he is pointed to. he said we could not hallow out the military again. he said we have done that after world war ii and cold war and vietnam war. now the colder war ended before bill clinton became president and who was bill clinton s budget director? leon panetta. leon is apparently now cop to hollow out the military and i
