Man accused of forging checks, stealing from grandparents | News, Sports, Jobs

The Maui News WAILUKU Bail was reduced to $10,000 for a Hana man who is facing charges alleging he forged checks to steal nearly $50,000 from his grandparents. Joshua Kamai, 29, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree theft, 17 counts of second-degree forgery and second-degree theft. The forgeries and theft occurred from April to September last year, according to the complaint against Kamai. He also is charged with theft of cash, food and cigarettes valued at more than $750 from Hana Ranch Store on Sept. 12. Kamai, who was arrested last week, appeared by videoconference from the Maui Community Correctional Center for his bail hearing Tuesday in 2nd Circuit Court.

Voucher holders can get certificates | News, Sports, Jobs

Dec 16, 2020 Lanai, Hana and Molokai residents who received assistance through the Hawaii Emergency Laulima Partnership program may redeem vouchers received in the mail for holiday gift certificates this week, the county announced. Lanai residents may pick up their gift certificates from 1 to 4 p.m. today and Thursday at the Lanai Council Office, located on Eighth Street in Lanai City. Gift certificates may be used at Richard’s Market and Pine Isle Market. Hana residents will receive a holiday food box and may redeem their vouchers for gift certificates from 1 to 5 p.m. today at the Hana Ball Park. Gift certificates may be used to purchase items at the Hana Ranch Store or Hasegawa General Store.
