By Benjamin Cox on April 28, 2021 at 4:02pm Governor J.B. Pritzker has issued a plan today to move the state to 100% renewable energy by 2045. Pritzker’s plan incorporates some elements of the other already-proposed measures in front of the Illinois General Assembly. Hannah Meisel of NPR reports that Pritzker’s plan includes ending an energy rate formula lawmakers approved in 2011 that was championed by ComEd and Ameren. The rate law has come under recent scrutiny due to Co...

Hold onto your wallets. Despite statements that they were concerned about the “cost” this jacks up prices including a near doubling of the rate cap. And before the proponents claim there will be “savings” - ask your self - if there are truly savings, why the need for a rate cap? And that is just on the RPS standard. CUB should definitely be subject to FOIA Are they subject to open meetings act? I notice that the exelon subsidies look like they’ll more closely match what Pritzker’s s...

I think the bar here is pretty low. The map just has to look less crazy. Has to trend along natural boundaries as much as possible. But the tension will always be there: partisan or not, do you group people with shared interests into the same box? Or do you group those interests in to more boxes so they have a more equitable stake in the decisions about their lives. – There is an added dimension to this data question. And that is the question of how good is the census anyway? – So we can j...

Tuesday, Mar 16, 2021 * Gov. JB Pritzker did several interviews with reporters yesterday. Subscribers have my report, but here are some highlights from the others. Mary Ann Ahern at NBC 5… Gov. J.B. Pritzker said while he anticipates opening up vaccine eligibility - particularly in the months ahead to meet President Joe Biden’s deadline of having all adults eligible by May 1 - the exact timing of Illinois’ expansion isn’t clear. “No announcements yet about what 1C would look like, ...

This seems to be the perfect case for name and shame when it comes to the counties/entities refusing the help. I know you said “I did not make that up” but come on someone made that up, that can’t be real, can it? Home rule in Illinois is a mess. There is so much inefficiency at the local and county level. Extra taxes, extra costs, extra red tape, just so local politicians can get stick their fingers in everything. “a Chicago physician can go to one of these home rule counties to perf...

I really don’t like this “get re-elected and quit and name your replacement” thing, but I also don’t know what to do about it. I’m getting more than a little tired of the practice of running for reelection and announcing retirement shortly after being sworn into a new term. Maybe show more respect for the voters and let them choose your replacement? @Ron Burgundy- Special Elections, at least for the house. I know people hate them but it is an incentive to stop this type of behavior. A...

Would also note that KB spoke about this on WGN https://wgnradio.com/news/rep-kam-buckner-we-know-who-the-next-speaker-will-be/ If Rep Welch becomes the Speaker, he’ll be the Speaker. It’s ludicrous to think he’d let Madigan control him. He may be part of the Springfield Democratic establishment, but he’s not a puppet Buckner is very correct and the effort to smear Chris Welch with that political perjorative is highly problematic for “progressives” or anyone else. “And to prove it...
