For many, college is the happiest time of their life. A time to step out on their own, discover who they are and make lifelong friends. For others, it starts out that way but devolves into what can only be described as a nightmare for everyone involved.
In my legal practice, I’ve spent a lot of time representing male college students who’ve been accused of sexual assault or harassment. I’ve also spent more than a decade working with survivors of sexual abuse as a licensed social worker. Having worked with both victims and the accused, I have a unique perspective on the topic of campus sexual assault.

Attorney Todd Flood says more women have felt empowered to come forward, thanks to support from Congresswoman Debbie Dingell and others joining the cause. Since a massive show of support for survivors of alleged sexual assault at Eastern Michigan University, student Hannah Petroski says thereâs been a wave of women who realize they are not alone.
