Prada Cup: Day 3 Preview - Course A - American Magic s Dean Barker s home patch
Prada Cup: Day 3 Preview - Course A - American Magic s Dean Barker s home patch by Richard Gladwell Sail-World NZ 16 Jan 22:13 UTC 17 January 2021 Dean Barker and the afterguard of American Magic - Day 2, Prada Cup - January 16, 2021 - 36 America s Cup © Richard Gladwell / Sail-World.com For Day 3 of the Prada Cup, racing will shift to a new course area, in an unusual response to the predicted wind. For the first time in the Prada Cup, Course A off Auckland s East Coast Bays, and North Shore suburbs, will be used. For American Magic helmsman, Dean Barker, the call couldn t be better - the top end of the course is off his old sailing club Murrays Bay SC, and its southern end is off Black Rock on Milford Beach. The course will parallel the coastline - and the waters are where he sailed Optimists, P-class and all his Youth sailing up until the time he won a World Youth Championship sailing in the then Laser class.

Prada Cup: Day 2 Preview - Course C - D options with a lighter breeze
American Magic - Waitemata Harbour - January 15, 2021 - Prada Cup © Richard Gladwell - Sail-World.com / nz Regatta Director Iain Murray has advised that racing will be held on either Course C of D race areas today The breeze is expected to come in later than the 3.12pm start schedule and will be from an average of 230 degrees - or SSW. That is much the same direction as yesterday, but a lighter breeze is expected. The two weather models used by the Regatta Director show different breeze behaviour - hence the two Course options. Currently, just before noon, in Auckland the breeze is multi directional and light. However on the west coast at Manukau a breeze is building and is now from 225 degrees averaging 12kts - gusting 17kts.Outside the air temperature is feels hot, which will encourage the cooling breeze from Auckland s West Coast which borders on the Tasman Sea.
