VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) Tuesday's storms wrecked plenty of areas across the Tri-State, and the K9 cemetery located at the FOP PAL Park off Happe Road is no different. Countless volunteers including staff at the Southern Indiana Police Canine Association (SIPCA) spent Saturday morning cleaning up the cemetery and giving back to the 60 dogs buried on the property. For police K9s across the Evansville region, this is where dogs are laid to rest and where years of service are remembered. Lauren Montgomery is just one of the people cleaning up. Her husband is a former EPD K-9 handler, and the family has two dogs buried at the cemetery. "These dogs are a part of our family for many years. This is where they train, and this is where their final resting place is," Montgomery says. "Just like any cemetery with a family member, it's a nice place to come and remember them."
