The New Brunswick Department of Health says there is no risk to public health in terms of soil contamination in Saint John, but residents still have concerns.
The Department of Health has updated its guidance on Saint John garden produce and cannabis that may have been exposed to smoke from the massive fire at American Iron and Metal's scrapyard three months ago, after four of 12 soil sampling sites showed "higher than expected levels of metals or chemicals."
Jessie Horrobin, a Grade 12 student at Harbour View High School, uses a wheelchair to get around and is worried that scheduled work on the school elevator will affect her ability to socialize with friends and participate in certain activities.
