A transgender activist was one of two women fatally stabbed Sunday by a man at a home in Boston s Dorchester neighborhood, authorities said Monday.
Jahaira DeAlto was hosting Marcus Chavis and his family when Chavis killed her and his wife, Fatima Yasin, while also stabbing a dog, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney s Office. DeAlto, 42, described herself as a YouTube personality and social commentator her channel, JahairasMission, had just under 2,500 subscribers as of Monday night and used the platform to discuss transgender issues and other topics.

The friends, family and loved ones of Jahaira DeAlto Balenciaga are mourning the death of a community advocate, anti-domestic violence activist, mother figure and local ballroom drag scene icon.
âJahaira was a legend for the trans community,â said Nolan Tesis, 28, a close friend of DeAltoâs. âShe was a mother to so many that didn t have parents. I think that she took the most pride in her role as a grandmother and a mother, a chosen family for many individuals in the LGBTQ community.â

Jahaira DeAlto Balenciaga, a beloved Ballroom legend and spirited trans activist, was stabbed to death Sunday (2 March). She was 43.
Described by those who knew her as a warm, thoughtful person and a guiding light for LGBT+ youth, DeAlto was found dead in her home in Massachusetts, Boston alongside another woman.
According to local law enforcement, DeAlto was hosting Marcus Chavis and his family when he allegedly killed her, his wife Fatima Yasin and stabbed their dog,
Boston police stumbled on Chavis, 35, on the stoop of the home on Taft Street, Dorchester, covered in dried blood.
