Im the guy you had to put up with during the first panel. Fortunately, we have a new cast of people to add their voices to the wonderful voices you heard from the scholars who were on the first panel. Once again, weve got Miller Center people here. And the Miller Center, one of its main emphases, is the focus on studying the presidency in depth. Historical depth with objectivity. In other words, we are all in the business of doing stuff that an editorial cartoonist is not in the business of doing which is reacting to events on a daytoday basis. As pat oliphant did more than 10,000 times in his 60 plus years as a newspaper cartoonist. Where as we all strived to be as objective as we can, the job of the editorial cartoonists and pat oliphant, as well as anyone whos ever done it, to provide comment, to provide opinion, to provide something to provoke discussion rather than perhaps aspire to settle discussion. In the house impeachment inquiry. No president in history has ever done anything like this. Many president s have expressed they couldnt do anything like this. President trump did not take these extreme steps to hide evidence of his innocence or to protect the institution of the presidency. As a career Law Enforcement officer, i have never seen anyone take such extreme steps to hide evidence allegedly proving his innocence. And i do not find that here today. The president is engaged in this coverup because he is guilty, and he knows it and he knows that the evidence he is concealing will only further demonstrate his culpability. Notwithstanding this effort to stonewall our inquiry, the house amassed powerful evidence of the president s high crimes and misdemeanors. 17 witnesses, 130 hours of testimony combined with the president s own admission on phonecalls and Public Comments confirmed and corroborated by hundreds of texts, emails and documents. Much of that evidence came from patrio
Report and other materials related to ongoing investigation. Next is the 90minute floor debate starting with rules Committee Chair jim mcgovern. Cgovern mr. Speaker, this is a dark time. This congress is being tested, in this case, not by a foreign adversary, but by our own president , a president who is undertaking a Relentless Campaign to obstruction and stonewalling. We have never seen anything like this, never before, mr. Speaker, has a president of either party so flagrantly ignored Congress Constitutional Oversight Authority and our nations separation of powers. You dont have to take my own word for it. Donald trump has declared, quote, we are fighting all subpoenas, and i dont want people testifying, end quote. These words make Richard Nixon look like an eagle scout. His attorney general, william barr, is apparently more than willing to follow the president s command. Hes refused to release the full unredacted Mueller Report and the underlying evidence until a compromise was fin

Donald trump has declared, quote, we are fighting all subpoenas, and i dont want people testifying, end quote. These words make Richard Nixon look like an eagle scout. His attorney general, william barr, is apparently more than willing to follow the president s command. Hes refused to release the full unredacted Mueller Report and the underlying evidence until a compromise was finally reached yesterday. Thats after the Judiciary Committee had already voted to hold him in contempt of congress. Apparently, the attorney general went from being americas lawyer to being the defense counsel for the president of the United States. I hope the Justice Department acts in good faith on this new agreement. These are documents that Congress Needs to see in response to special counsel muellers findings, but if they do not and if the attorney general holds back key information, then all options need to be on the
