Harry Paidas: Communication skills are needed to earn respect
Harry Paidas
Special to The Alliance Review
I was an English major who, during my career, taught the language at every level to generations of students.
Through the years I encountered some rather ugly abuses of the language, but I feel I helped more than a few students see the error of their ways to go on to successful careers armed with outstanding communication skills..

I am no expert in politics, so when it comes to reference points, I usually turn to what I know best – sports.
Forgive the over-simplification, but in sports, winning and losing is usually decided by a scoreboard. In most cases, it involves points and generally, the team with the most points wins. In other sports such as golf however, the scoreboard is reversed and the player with the fewest strokes wins.
