Yeast that traveled from space to sea depths set for use in Japan sake brew

(Photo courtesy of Kochi Prefectural Industrial Technology Center) FUKUOKA Sake yeast that was taken into space has now returned from a journey to the depths of the sea, and plans are underway to use it to create a brew in the western Japan prefecture of Kochi as early as September. According to the Kochi Prefectural Industrial Technology Center, which was behind the project, it is the first time that sake yeast has been taken both into space and deep into the sea. The center hopes the unique yeast will help revitalize the prefecture s sake brewing industry.
