+ February 21, 2021 ALTHOUGH tropical storm Auring’s intensity has weakened, state weather officials urged the public to remain on heightened alert as it could bring moderate to heavy rains once it traverses the Visayas on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2021.
Signal No. 1 has been raised over two areas in Mindanao as tropical storm Auring continues to intensify while moving westward slowly, PAGASA announced late Thursday night.In its 11 p.m. severe weather bulletin, the weather agency said Signal No. 1 has been raised over Davao Oriental and the eastern portion of Davao de Oro (Pantukan, Maragusan, Compostela, New Bataan).

Typhoon Auring path February 19, 2021 NATIONAL government agencies and even local government units in Cebu are bracing themselves for Tropical Storm Auring (International name: Dujuan), which is expected to make landfall in the Visayas during the weekend.
In preparation for Auring’s impact in the region, officials of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD 7) have prepared P22.2 million worth of stockpile aid and standby funds.
DSWD 7 Director Rebecca Geamala told SunStar Cebu that the P22.2 million covers family food packs, non-food relief items, and standby funds.
“We will be using these funds in case of calamities. If the amount is insufficient to provide aid to those affected, we can always request more from our Central Office,” Geamala said.

From Friday until early Saturday morning, Caraga, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao del Norte will have light to moderate with at times heavy rainshowers. From early morning on Saturday through Sunday early morning, moderate to heavy with at times intense rains is expected over Caraga Region, Davao Oriental, and Davao de Oro. Moderate to heavy rains over Eastern Visayas, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Bukidnon, and Davao del Norte. Light to moderate with at times heavy rains over the rest of Visayas, the rest of Northern Mindanao, Albay, Sorsogon, Catanduanes, Masbate, Lanao del Sur, Cotabato, and Davao City.
PLDT, Smart assure availability of services amid Auring threat
Published February 19, 2021 9:53pm PLDT and its wireless arm Smart Communications have assured the availability of their services amid the threat of Tropical Storm Auring. Earlier today, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council urged residents of flood and landslides-prone areas in Mimaropa, the Visayan Islands, and Eastern Mindanao to prepare for a stormy weekend. Smart said it had activated its Libreng Tawag (free call), Charging (free charging), and Wi-Fi stations in Mindanao, “ready to be deployed at a moment’s notice,” and sent satellite phones to Samar and Panay ahead of Auring’s landfall.
