CHARDON, Ohio Last Thursday, deputies from the Geauga County Sheriff s Office arrested two men believed to be responsible for explosions over the last few months in Hambden and Claridon Townships.
Since Oct. 2, the Geauga County Sheriff s Office has documented 25 instances of reported explosions in the two townships with a total of 56 residents reporting them to the sheriff s office. Some of the residents reported that the explosions shook their homes.
Deputies arrested 24-year-old Mitchell Zimmer from Hambden Township and charged the man with Possession of Methamphetamine, a Felony 5; Having Weapons While Under Disability, a Felony 3; and Unlawful Possession of a Dangerous Ordinance, a Felony 5.

Seven sentenced in Gallia Common Pleas Court

GALLIPOLIS On Friday, Gallia County Prosecuting Attorney Jason D. Holdren announced the recent sentencings of seven individuals by Judge Margaret Evans in the Gallia County Common Pleas Court.
According to a news release from Holdren’s office:
Timothy R. Ratcliff, age 36, of Lewisville, Ohio, was recently convicted of Felonious Assault, a felony of the second degree; and Having Weapons While Under Disability, a felony of the third degree. Ratcliff was sentenced to a minimum period of 6.5 years and a maximum period of 9 years in prison. The Court noted at sentencing that Ratcliff has a history of criminal convictions, having served prior prison terms. Additionally, according to the news release from Holdren’s office, “Ratcliff exhibits a pattern of drug abuse with a refusal to engage in treatment.” Upon his release from prison, Ratcliff will be under the supervision of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for a mandatory pe

GALLIPOLIS, Ohio A Crown City, Ohio woman has been convicted of aggravated murder in the death of her 16-month old child, according to a news release from the office of Gallia County Prosecuting Attorney Jason D. Holdren.
Holdren announced Joyceann Louise Ruane, age 25, of Crown City, was convicted Thursday in the Gallia County Common Pleas Court of Aggravated Murder, a special category felony; a firearm specification, indicating Ruane used a firearm to facilitate the offense of Aggravated Murder; and Having Weapons While Under Disability, a felony of the third degree. These convictions result from the July 23, 2020, shooting and subsequent death of Ruane’s 16-month-old child, according to the news release.
