FLOOD alerts are still in place across Cumbria following heavy rainfall. The Environment Agency (EA) said yesterday that flooding was expected to affect low-lying land and roads in the Dunnerdale, Duddon Bridge, Broughton-in-Furness, Kirkby-in-Furness, Soutergate, Coniston, Ulverston, Dalton and Barrow areas. A Lake District company has raised more than £1,000 with its running and walking challenge for a local mental health charity. Ten members of staff from Hawkshead Relish began raising funds at the start of February for Growing Well while doing their allowed daily exercise.
