DUMAGUETE CITY - The Department of Health in Region 7 (DOH-7) has sent 10 nurses to the province of Siquijor to augment its current health workforce amid the current surge in coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the island province. Zella Maye Gascon-Samson, DOH-Siquijor representative, in an interview with the Philippine News Agency Tuesday afternoon, said the nurses arrived on Saturday and were required to quarantine themselves for four days. Samson said they were swab tested Tuesday morning and all tested negative for Covid-19. The nurses have been formally endorsed so they can report for work on Wednesday, she added. The augmentation team came as Siquijor continues to grapple with the surge of cases that started in early September. However, Covid-19 infections have already slowed down since last week, Samson said. "Two weeks ago, we had the highest rate of infections," she said in the Cebuano dialect.
