Magic can't overcome miserable shooting performance in Game 1 playoff loss to Cavaliers

Statistically speaking, the Orlando Magic entered the playoffs with the worst offense of any team in the field. Orlando had four players miss every attempt, and the Magic made only 33% of their shots in a 97-83 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the opener of their Eastern Conference series on Saturday. The Magic were ranked last in the NBA this season in 3-pointers, and went just 8 of 37 behind the arc against the Cavs.

Donovan Mitchell scores 30, Cavaliers open playoffs with tough-minded 97-83 win in Game 1 over Magic

Donovan Mitchell and the Cavaliers spent the week insisting they were better prepared for this year's playoffs. Mitchell scored 30 points, Jarrett Allen had 18 rebounds and the Cavs looked tougher — mentally and physically — than in last year's first-round flop, beating the Orlando Magic 97-83 in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference playoff series. “Last year is over with,” Mitchell said.

Paolo Banchero scores 21, leads Magic over Nets 114-106

Paolo Banchero handled the finesse part and let his Orlando teammates handle the physicality. “I give a lot of credit to Paolo,” said Magic center Wendell Carter Jr., who had 15 points and eight rebounds. Six other Orlando players scored in double figures including Jalen Suggs, who scored 11 of his 14 points in the first quarter to help the Magic take a 17-point lead.

Moritz Wagner scores 22, Magic reserves shine in 116-109 win over Cavs without All-Star Mitchell

Moritz Wagner had 22 points, his younger brother, Franz, added 14 and the Orlando Magic returned from the All-Star break to beat Cleveland 116-109 on Thursday night, handing the Cavaliers just their third loss in 21 games. The Cavs, who have been the NBA's hottest team since mid-December, played without leading scorer and All-Star Donovan Mitchell. The Magic were tougher, stronger and more focused.
