Now after months of unrelenting coverage of obamacares many problems and after fridays release of decembers dismal jobs report, im sure democrats here in the senate would prefer that we talk about almost anything else. After all, when you have held most of the power in washington here for the last five years, you dont want to mention the fact that your main legacy is a sluggish economy and a disastrous train wreck of a health care program. This past friday, we found out that december marked the weakest month of job growth since january of 2011. The economy added just 74,000 jobs in december, less than half of the monthly job growth needed for a real recovery
We need to set the polics up for success by providing stability. Moving toward a 35 year end date would better enable to committee to conduct proper oversight and consider changes over time. In addition, we look to make changes to some of the policies and more importantly we look to offset the cost associated with both extenders we must not cross on to patients who rely on the programs. I want to highlight some of the extenders and how they help the medicare and Medicaid Programs. This isnt a long list, but they are ones i would like to urge the committee to extend. One is the qualify for medicare that assists Medicare Beneficiary by covering the cost. It helps produce burdens and improve access to needed Health Care Access to lowincome people who dont qualify for medicaid. In new jersey 49,000 people were able to get this assistance. Another is the tma program that allows them to stay on medicare for a year once their income changes. It allows for consistent access to primary care. I
Really three parties a year. You have the government, president kiirs supporters. You have machars supporters. And you have this group of detainees who are not either. That is, they are looking for a broader party role, a broader use of the Party Mechanisms and authorities. And to make them part of the negotiati negotiations, you have to enlarge those negotiations to allow for views other than just the two contending parties. But you need to do that to give them a role, because there are two things that have to happen. After a cease fire, you have to have an understanding as to what the governments going to look like for the next two years. And that means that those people now detained, and president kiir, and people from machars side, have to agree on the structure of a government over the next two years. Meanwhile, you have this what i think a broad constitutional process that delves into the longer term issues of democracy, human rights, and governance. So this is a complicated nego
