Hugging is back but think twice before you embrace it

SHARE Britain's Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Monday that people in England can hug friends and family as the success of the Covid-19 vaccine drive allows the next stage of lockdown easing to proceed. Mr Johnson confirmed that indoor service can resume at hospitality venues, while groups of six will be allowed to meet inside each other’s homes. But he warned people not to abandon all caution as the lockdown conditions were lifted. "Your efforts have so visibly paid off," he said, addressing the country at a news conference. "I can confirm today that we have met our four tests for easing the lockdown in England.”

Hugging lesson? BBC gets pilloried for giving tips on how to 'safely' embrace one another -- Society's Child -- Sott.net

Mon, 10 May 2021 14:09 UTC © REUTERS/Kevin Mohatt The BBC has exposed itself to a wave of internet scorn after lecturing Britons on how to correctly embrace one another, in response to reports that the government would soon "allow" hugging. Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to push forward with plans to ease lockdown restrictions, including guidance on hugging. The government is that hugs will soon be permitted, but people should act "cautiously" when engaging in amicable touching, Health Minister Nadine Dorries said. Her remarks were echoed by Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove, who said Downing Street wanted to fully restore "friendly contact" between people.

(Getty Images) Boris Johnson will hold a press conference later today about how the UK will move into the next phase of reopening the country, Health Minister Nadine Dorries said this morning. “It does look as if the roadmap is on course,” Dorries told Sky News. “The prime minister will be making an announcement later this afternoon and he will be detailing how we’re going to unlock and when.” Dorries said that the data was “looking extremely positive” when asked if people in England will soon be allowed to hug again.
