Former Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh has tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time in two months, a health official said on Friday. The veteran Congress leader had earlier tested positive for the disease on April 12.
He is being treated at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) hospital, Shimla and his condition is stable, Special Secretary (Health) Nipun Jindal said.
Nine-time MLA and five-time MP, Singh was Himachal Pradesh s chief minister for six terms.
The 86-year-old veteran Congress leader is currently the MLA from Arki in Solan district.
A total of 3,018 people were administered COVID-19 vaccine in Himachal Pradesh on Saturday, taking the number of those who have received the jabs in the state to 54,591, a senior health official said. As many as 5,647 healthcare workers were to be administered the vaccine across 77 sessions on Saturday, but 3,018 people could be given the jabs, which is 53.5 per cent coverage, he said. The total number of people vaccinated for the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine in the state has now risen to 54,591 against a target of around 77,000 by February 9, Special Secretary (Health) Nipun Jindal said. The vaccination drive in the state began on January 16 when 1,536 members of the medical fraternity were given the jabs.
As many as 6,136 people were administered the COVID-19 vaccine in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, taking the number of those who have received the jabs in the state to 39,588, a health official said. A total of 7,921 health workers were to be administered the vaccine across 96 sessions on Tuesday, out of which 6,136 could be given the jabs, a coverage of 77.5 per cent, he said. The total number of people vaccinated for the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine in the state has risen to 39,588 against a target of around 77,000 by February 9, Special Secretary (Health) Nipun Jindal said. A total of 33,452 people were administered the vaccine till February 1.

India has started exporting COVID-19 vaccines from January 20, paving the way for many mid-and lower-income countries to get supplies of the easy-to-store Oxford/AstraZeneca drug, of which the Centre said it plans to ship millions of doses within days.
According to the foreign ministry officials, the first doses would go to Bhutan and Maldives. Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, and Seychelles will also get supplies in this week s first phase, the ministry said.
