Yes. We are in a third wave now. We have been monitoring the cases for the last 4 weeks in Central Visayas, not just Cebu City and our epidemic curve shows an upward trend, Caña said in a message. Caña said the main reason for the upward trend is the more transmissible variants of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

DAVAO CITY – A 23-year old medical technologist in Tandag, Surigao del Sur went viral on social media after a colleague posted a photo of her processing a blood sample of a newborn patient as fire hits their hospital building.
“This happened few moments after my duty but one brave colleague chose to stay and continue crossmatching blood for a newborn patient. The real Call of Duty, all in the name of saving the lives of others,” wrote Stefan Balani in a Facebook post-Monday night with the photo of Jeia Pigte Guingue wearing her backpack while doing the incubation of the blood sample.

Photo credit to Pixabay May 16, 2021 FOR 27 years, Davao Region has recorded a total of 4,513 cases of the still-incurable human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/Aids).
According to the Department of Health-Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (DOH-Resu)-Davao Region data from 1993 to December 2020, Davao City has contributed to the highest number of cases with 3,312, followed by Davao del Norte with 556, then Davao del Sur (242), Davao de Oro (200), Davao Oriental (141), and Davao Occidental (62).
Out of the total cases, 238 people living with HIV (PLHIV) succumbed to the virus.
Dr. Jordana P. Ramiterre, head of Davao City’s Reproductive Health and Wellness Center (RHWC), said the restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic affected their office s delivery of programs and services for the prevention of HIV/Aids, and the treatment, care, and support to PLHIV, especially during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
