Iowa City Martha Lea (Fulbright) Roesch was born on Oct. 19, 1923, on the family farm in Daisy, Mo., the first of three children of Dock and Mary Marie (McLane) Fulbright. She graduated from Oak Ridge, Mo. High School in 1941, and was the last surviving member of that class. Marty moved to St. Louis where she met her husband to be, Lawrence L. Roesch, who was stationed at Jefferson Barracks. They were married on Oct. 10, 1943, after which he was deployed with the U.S. Army to India. He returned two years later when they moved to Iowa City. To this union were born two children, Gayle (Baldridge/Royar) and Gregory.
