GUEST OPINION: Look heavenward this Christmas week

As we end the year, we are in for a celestial treat, as two planets, Saturn and Jupiter, come into conjunction. They will be closest together on Dec. 21, but still visible before and after that date.
Right now (the week before Christmas), they are fairly close to each other and are readily seen with the naked eye. You do not have to be in particularly dark spot, even in the IGA parking lot you can see them together. Look for them in the southwestern sky shortly after sunset. Recently I was walking my dog in Deer Run Park, and despite being in the valley, could easily see them.
