When his mother emigrated to Panama to be with her husband, Anthony Darwin chose to keep a book of his fathers that he later realised was printed in 2003, a year after his supposed death.

John Darwin has made a new life with a new wife in Manila after divorcing first wife Anne who taught herself IT in prison and is now set up near York with a job at the animal charity RSPCA.

Tony Hutchinson, a former detective with Cleveland Police, said John Darwin might have escaped justice if he had not given himself up 15 years ago.

John Darwin was released from prison in 2011 and he and his wife Anne divorced. He went on to marry Mercy Mae Avila Darwin (pictured), who said this wee her husband is on his way to Ukraine.
